On Arien's Violent Torrent, does "May repeat once on a different unit" mean I can attack again, or does it refer to the discard effect? If it refers to the effect, given that it says *unit*, can I repeat the effect on a minion, and is the minion instantly defeated in that case?
Repeat, repeats the entire action=attack and subsequent discard effect.
— Community answer (LuAn on Discord, 2025-04-20)Magical current from Arien: empty spawn in active battle zone or all spawn points?
Cards will specify battle zone (look at Dodger for examples). The Arien greens do not, therefore it applies to any zone on the map, regardless of where the battle zone is
— Community answer (Robby on Discord, 2025-03-19)When hit by the "discard a card, or is defeated" clause of Arien's primary red, can the target choose to be defeated even though they have a card in hand?
No, discards like that are mandatory.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-21)Spell Break was played, Arien is defeated, can a character that was in radius now use a skill on their turn?
Please check the bullet points of what happens when a hero is defeated (it's in the Attack action, page 13).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-22)What is the timing between this Ultimate and the "Before the attack" on Arien's Gold?
“Before the attack” is part of the attack action. So that happens second.
Somewhat unfortunate naming overlap.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-02-26)Arien's red states: "Before the attack: Up to 1 enemy hero in any of the 3 spaces in a straight line directly behind the target discards a card, or is defeated." Does counting the 3 spaces start with the space directly behind the target, or with the target's space?
The space the target is in is not "behind the target". Apply the text exactly as written.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-04)Playing as Bain, if I see a player has already resolved their Red card, can I play Blue and "guess" Red to get coins, even though the Red card is no longer in their hand?
Desmond is not a published character.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-01)Bain's Alt Blue II reads: "You may have a hero in radius retrieve a discarded card. If they do, you may also retrieve a discarded card." Does "You may have a hero..." mean I decide whether they retrieve it, or is it their decision?
Yes, that's the reason for that particular wording, to be able to force retrieval.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-21)When Bain gives a bounty marker to player A, does his block work on attacks from all enemies, not just attacks by player A?
Correct. A hero "in play". Not "the attacking hero".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-14)1. For Brogan the Destroyer's Mad Dash, do the attack and movement all need to be in the same direction, or can you move 2 in a straight line right up next to an enemy and then attack?
2. On Arien's card, does "directly behind" mean in the direction that the attack is coming from?
1. No. If you have Defiant pack, check Cutter's red to see the difference. 2. Imagine drawing a line of hexes from Arien towards the target, continuing in that direction - "Directly behind" are all spaces of that line, except the one with Arien and the one with the target.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-09)Does "This round:" card text only start applying once the card is played and resolved? Brogan's Bolster (the rulebook's example for skill actions) seems pretty much useless since red and gold cards have a higher initiative — am I missing something?
1. Yes. 2. Red is NOT higher [Initiative] than blue. 3. "This round" effect is active the entire round, so [Initiative] only matters on the turn you activate, which is what's shown in the examples on page 12.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-14)What is the significance of referring to Brogan as a heavy minion? Does it mean he is immune as well?
Correction: If you remove the actual Heavy, and the Brogan is the only minion remaining the push will happen as soon as you are done with minion battle, since Brogan's ability only works in that phase.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-12)At the end of the round, does leveling up or the wave push happen first?
It is specified. Page 8.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-13)Do attacks on heroes have to be blocked with a defense action even when the attack value is zero or lower? This came up with Dodger the Warlock's blue cards Enfeeblement and Weakness, which reduce the attack value. We played that you still have to discard a defense card to block.
Please check the second paragraph below the “minion defence modifiers” blue box on page 14. You played correctly.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-12)Dodger's Darkest Ritual says "…, gain an Attack item. Use any spare card from the box with the corresponding icon." Does that mean she gets any card with the attack symbol from the game box? If yes, does she permanently own it?
Takahide can. Not Dodger though.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-08)When Dodger uses death trap and multiple enemies are in range, does Dodger pick the target or the enemy team?
Please take look at the second paragraph in "Performing actions" on Page 10.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-16)If Dodger activates Blue Weakness, reducing the attack value of enemies in radius. Brogan attacks with Mad Dash, starting his Dash outside of the Weakness radius, but ending the movement part of his Dash inside the radius. Is his attack value reduced for this attack?
Card text is applied sequentially (Page 10), not as a single block. Brogan's attack is whatever it is at the moment he gets to the "target a unit adjacent to you"
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-23)If Dodger plays Blue I to defend against Emmitt's primary red when Dodger has 2 or more empty spawn points in radius and no other modifiers apply, is Dodger's total 10 or 12?
Simply follow the text on Emmitt's red verbatim: Dodger has to "use the initiative value of her card and items" <instead of devence value of her card and items>.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-09)If your attack value is lowered to zero by Dodger, does the hero you are targeting still have to discard to block?
Check the second to last sentence in the Defense action section in the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-30)A hero performs an attack with a red attack card, but the final attack total is 0 after modifiers. Does the defending hero still have to discard a card to defend, or can they choose not to defend and simply survive because the attack total (0) is not higher than the defense total (0)? The rulebook says that if you don't defend you are defeated, but the detailed defense rules resolve defeat by comparing attack vs defense totals. Is discarding to defend mandatory for any attack, or only relevant when the attack total could actually defeat the hero?
It's in the rulebook in the Attack action. Page 14.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-11)Dodger's Tier III alt red says to push "up to 2 minions". Can Dodger choose to push only one of two minions in range, or must both be moved?
Correct. Up to 2 means “0, 1 or 2”
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-24)With Garrus's Chilling Howl, an enemy hero within the radius cannot perform a movement action of more than 2 spaces. If a hero has a movement of 4, can they move 1 space to get out of the radius and then continue to move the remaining 3 spaces since they are no longer within it?
No, this is correct. If you are in radius, you cannot move more than 2 with a movement action. To be clear, you can still perform a movement 4 action, moving only 2 spaces. Leaving radius doesn't change that. But also entering the radius mid-move doesn't affect the movement.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-28)Is the following, from a fan site, correct? Nothing in the card text seems to indicate you need to target the closest enemy with the second part of the ability — can you target one hero, then move adjacent to a second hero (away from the first) and use the second half of the ability?
"Can Garrus’s Alt Reds (Blunt Force) move away from one hero to another?
If your attack against an opposing hero does not defeat them, they will still be adjacent to you. There are several valid options for movement: you could move to a different space adjacent to the hero you attacked, or if you are adjacent to a different enemy hero, you may move to another space adjacent to them. You may not move away from your initial target to a different enemy hero that was not originally adjacent to you, since the original target would have been the nearest enemy hero."
You can attack adjacent target and then move and push another enemy hero. It might be referring to the first printing version of the card (I don’t remember what it was previously).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-28)Garrus's Light Pilum says "An enemy hero in range discards a card if able. You may move 1 space." If there is no hero to discard a card, does the card fizzle so that he is not able to move?
Please check page 10.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-02)Then, for Garrus red, shouldn't moving 0 fulfill the "if you do" step?
And what should I check in the channel?
The extended discussion on this very subject
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-29)Can you discard a card to defend even if you don't have enough defense value to survive the attack?
Yes, you can discard and die.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-23)Is Trailblazer's ability "You and friendly heroes in radius may ignore obstacles while performing movement actions" evaluated anew with every single move, or only at the start of the move action?
Movement isn't broken into 1-hex steps. Each instance of movement is a single step from starting space to the destination.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-09)Garrus's Tier III Alt red says
*"Target a unit adjacent to you.
After the attack: You may move up to 2 spaces to a space adjacent to an enemy hero;
if you do, push that hero 3 spaces, ignoring obstacles."*
Does "after the attack" part targets an enemy hero before or after movement? Can you move to a space adjacent only to an immune enemy hero? The wording here is similar to Cutter's Primary Green.
You cannot. Check page 10.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-12-18)How does Mind Grip work with Gydion?
Apply raw (Gydion's silver).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-28)1. Does Gydion start the game with all spells in his spellbook?
2. Does Snori start the game with his runes set?
Follow all card texts verbatim. If it's not in the text, then it's not a thing.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-10)With Gydion's Raise the Dead, I respawned a minion in a different spot within the battle zone than where it started, since one had been moved from its spawn. Is that correct — you don't have to respawn a minion at its original spawn point?
Also, can Raise the Dead ever give you more minions than you started with in a zone? If a minion was moved out of the zone but none were killed, can you revive one from the supply?
For your first question, you played correctly. if there was a restriction, it would be in the card text (For example, Dodger's green). For your second question, please check "Respawn" keyword on Page 19.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-13)1. Must Gydion keep the spells in his spellbook face down and used spells face up? Is Gydion meant to have the handicap of not having all his spells laid out in front of him?
2. For his ultimate Wish, can he cast it with any card that allows him to cast a spell, and then via the Wish spell cast a spell of any colour, with both the Wish spell and the other spell coming out of his spellbook?
Silver is pretty clear about that. Practically speaking, I usually hold in-spellbook spells in small decks divided by tiers and available spells as a separate small deck for easy pickup. I believe there was also something along those lines on the back of Gydion's dashboard. As long as cast spells are face-up and everyone can see them, it's pretty much irrelevant where the in-spellbook spells are, since only Gydion is supposed to be looking at them.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-17)Does an "if able" always apply to the full sentence? For example, Gydion's Energy Drain: "An enemy hero in range discards a non-basic card, if able. Your team regains 1 spent life counter." Does that mean that I have to be able to target an enemy hero for the life counter to be regained or does the "if able" remove the "being able to target" part as well as discard part.
Direct answer to the first part of your question is in the rulebook. Page 17.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-28)For Gydion's cards that scale with removed cards, do you choose how many cards to remove as you do the action (for example, can you remove all of your spell cards to get a bunch of coins), or does it only count the ones you have already played when you play the skill?
The spell cards are removed from the spellbook either when a spell is cast, or when a spell effect tell you you can do it. You cannot choose to remove them at will.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-06)Does Gydion start with a spellbook, or does he only get it after he prepares the spellbook for the first time?
Unless the card specifically says that he does, he doesn't.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-09)Can Gydion's spell cards be used to perform a clear action? I mean, do the red and gold spell cards count as a "complete attack action"?
Yes, for the same reason he can fast travel with Expeditious retreat
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-17)When Gydion gains his Ultimate, does it take 6 rounds before he can trigger the Wish spell win?
The answer is 5, not 6.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-12)Is Gydion able to play a spell card if there is no target / it is invalid for use?
Same way as any other action. You stop performing an action at the exact spot when you cannot do a mandatory step.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-30)With Gydion's Suggestion spell, does the opponent choose the direction they move?
Correct. Just note that they do not _start_ in the spellbook
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-09)Gydion's silver reads: "Only Gydion can look at the cards in the spellbook". Is this a hard counter to NebKher's gold ("Perform an action on the card in the previous turn slot for an enemy hero...")? If NebKher attempts to target one of Gydion's other cards (red, blue, etc.) that casts a spell from the spellbook, does this fail to find due to the text on Gydion's silver?
No. See Gydion's silver text. Spells are revealed when cast.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-28)How does Gydion's Suggestion work? Who chooses the direction, and if it's the person being suggested, can they move in a direction that doesn't move them 3 spaces?
See Page 10 of the rulebook, "Performing actions".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-28)If a Gydion player revealed a card that reads (for example) "cast Spell A, B, or C", and I act before him, am I allowed to look at spells A/B/C if they are still in his spellbook?
The answer is on Gydion's silver card.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-23)What is meant by "active card"? The term does not appear in the rules.
Please refer to "Active effects" on Page 17. And an example on Page 7 (in the "resolve your card" step).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-22)If Pyro, an enemy hero, and Min's mine are all in a straight line, can Widget's alt blue "Drag Off" push the enemy through the mine, causing it to go off and thus allowing Pyro to land where the mine was?
No. Movement is not done in separate steps. It's a single uninterruptable step from origin to destination (and since tokens are obstacles, you cannot end movement on a mine even if you can go through it to trigger it). You only check for mines exploding after the entire movement is done.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-06)1. For Swift's green card Mark for Death, does Min's smoke bomb block this between Swift and the enemy minion when that enemy minion is defeated? If it does, does it still count as "The first time an enemy minion in radius is defeated", so Swift would not gain the bonus coin for the rest of that turn?
2. If Gydion's spellbook is full of spell cards and he plays his silver card, does he still have a chance to cast the "Wish" spell (having unlocked his ult card)?
1. Yes.
2. Yes.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-24)How does Min's "Perfect Self" work? It says "take" a card from your deck — what if the tier 2 card is already being used as an item or is still in your hand?
Then you cannot take it. The only tier II cards which are in your deck are the ones which _were_ in your hand but were already replaced by a Tier III card.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-12-28)Min's push red says: after the attack, move one space to a space adjacent to the target, then push X spaces. If you target a minion and the minion dies, can you move to a space adjacent to where that minion was and push, or can you not move adjacent to the target since the target is now dead/gone?
No. After the attack there's no target if it was a minion (unless Brogan's or Tali's green is in effect).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-09)Can I attack a minion with Min's primary red and then push an enemy hero who is next to Min?
Nothing is stopping you
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-23)If Min's initiative is reduced to a negative value, but he has activated the double item bonus of his green card, how is the outcome calculated?
Using the rules of arithmetic. Multiplication has higher priority than subtraction
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-13)If NebKher uses his gold card to perform Min's blue Mine card, does he just place illusion tokens instead of mine tokens, ignoring the rest of the text (which only describes the ability of the mine)? Or will the mine tokens also affect Min's teammates?
It would work as your friend suggests if Min's mines were based on an active effect, but they are not.
Mine's effect is part of that token's _property_ and does not change once the token is placed.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-05)With Misa's blue skill, does she have to move through an enemy hero? Does the ";" make moving through an enemy hero mandatory?
No. They are connected statements, but not the same. If it was mandatory, the wording would be something like "Move up to 4 spaces in a straight line ignoring obstacles through an enemy hero, ...."
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-27)Can Misa's two blue cards discard or place enemy units while moving through smoke grenades?
There's no yes or no answer, since it depends on positioning.
The move part doesn't care about the smoke bomb as long as it ignores obstacles.
Then you get to the discard/reposition part of the text and check the smoke bomb position relative to you and the target.
So the key is smoke bomb's effect is checked _after_ Misa moved.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-03)1. With Min's main red, can he move if the target he hit dies?
2. With Misa's silver, can she use the heavy for the jump, since it doesn't target it?
I don't know. It's a another channel question, not another channel question.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-02-27)If Mrak's Stone Carapace is used for its secondary attack, does the "This Round" text still apply for the remainder of the round? Or does the "this round" ability of being able to discard a card only apply if it is used for its primary movement?
Why would it? It’s not the primary action. You might want to read page 9 just in case, as it covers these concepts.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-19)How does Mrak's Rolling Stone interact with Wasp's Static Barrier (when Mrak is outside the radius)?
Exactly as written. And also check Obstacles and moving through obstacles (pages 17-19). (Should make it clear.)
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-09)For Mrak's rolling card (movement over obstacles), is there a reason for skipping one empty space, or is it just to make the card stronger?
another channel
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-14)Mrak's level 3 red card was originally described on Tabletopia as "a another discard", but the physical version has removed the word "another". Does this mean the actual effect has changed?
When Mrak is targeted by Whisper's gold card and discards the level 3 red card, can the red card be retrieved? Will the subsequent "This round" effect be affected?
Yes, it can be retrieved. That is what I meant by that yes in my response. As for the no, the tabletopia version of this card and the printed version of this card are identical.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-21)If Mrak has already placed tokens with his gold, can he play silver and place fewer than three tokens, or none (neither of which is "exactly" three)? Do the tokens ever move when spawned?
No. The card specifically says “exactly”. I recommend checking “Place” on page 18 of the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-22)Can the new version of NebKher's gold be applied to items?
Nothing in the card text says that you should use opponent's items, so you are using your own.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-30)If I copy Taka's gold with NebKher, how does swapping golds work?
As usual - verbatim.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-19)NebKher's alt blue: "Split the board into two sides with a straight line of spaces drawn through you space. **This turn:** Units on either side of the line cannot interact with objects and spaces on the other side of the line, as if they did not exist." what's meant by objects?
Does it include tokens, heroes and minions?
just remember that each instance of movement is a single step.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-13)Using NebKher's gold to copy Death Grenade:
1. Does it create an illusion token?
2. Does it trigger the end of round effect, because "that token" references the illusion in this case?
3. Will the illusion token even stay on the board, given that in the clearing step it's targeting the grenade token?
1. Yes.
2. No, because it's not a grenade. You didn't place the token which the card text is refering to. There was a replacement effect.
3. Yes.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-06)When NebKher copies Bain, can he give someone the bounty marker, even if the marker was used before?
Nope. Line 5: "do not use markers"
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-05)Can NebKher's gold place Trinket's turret (for example, if NebKher uses his gold on Trinket's gold), since the turret is not a token?
Follow the text exactly as written. ||Yes. Not just place, but also explode an already placed one with green, for example||
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-14)Razzle's "Magic Trick" and "Aaaand It's Gone!" read: push a unit adjacent to you up to 2 spaces (3 for "Aaaand It's Gone!"); for every space the target moved, move one space in the opposite direction. Does the first part create the boundary for the second part? I.e., if Razzle pushes Brogan 3 spaces but can only move 1 space (or fewer than 3 spaces) because she's backstopped, can she then only push Brogan 1 space because she herself can only move 1 space? Her own move doesn't appear to be optional per the rules.
All those pushes are "up to", so you get to choose how far to push. If you choose to push the target 3 spaces, but cannot move 3 spaces in the opposite direction, you don't move at all, but the target is still pushed.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-05)Why does Razzle have a card that says spawn 3 more of you in radius when the radius is 1 and the effect is stationary — why not just say adjacent? Is it because other characters can increase a teammate's radius?
1. This is not a rules question. I suggest checking the "[Poison]" role in another channel
2. Items.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-10)On Razzle's Alleyoop, are my other minis a friendly hero?
When you are performing an action they _are_ in fact a friendly hero.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-13)On Emmit's Time Walk, is "who remained in the same space since last turn" synonymous with "has not moved this turn?"
Yes, it only cares that the unit stays in place this turn
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-15)Does Razzle get defense benefit/bane from other Razzles next to minions (ignoring the silver card for this example)?
When actions are performed (defense action is an action) each razzle is a separate hero.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-05)Xargatha's Stone Gaze vs Razzle: 2 Razzles are in radius, 2 are not. Can the 2 not in radius move, or does it affect all 4 equally?
The answer is in Razzle's gold card text. "each of you is the same hero, _except when actions are performed_."
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-08)Does a different Razzle mean a different target? If not, and the action targets a hero, does "repeat once on a different target/hero" mean the same thing?
The answer is on the Razzle’s gold. Different while actions are performed.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-12)Do multiple Razzles count as multiple different heroes when enemies perform actions? E.g. for Garrus's "when two or more enemy heroes are in radius you may retrieve a discarded card", do two Razzle figures in radius count?
You only activate one of the Razzles as "you". The other Razzles are "other you".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-14)Can Razzle spawn copies of herself on a token-occupied space to remove that token? The rules say "if a unit spawns in a spawn point" — does this only work on minion spawn points?
Look for “Spawn” (instead of “Place”) keyword in the rulebook. Token rules are irrelevant here. Razzle is not a token.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-03)Can heroes with attacks that say “after attack: perform an attack on another hero” attack two different razzles on the same turn?
The answer is in Razzle's gold card text. Apply it exactly as written.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-13)If Cutter's tier 3 blue targets a Razzle with multiple Razzles nearby, can I make the Razzle discard 2 cards?
My thoughts are it's 02:30 AM and I'm in bed. Folks, there's really no need to ping me directly. I answer whenever I am available.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-07)When an attack lets you repeat "on a different hero", can you target a different copy of Razzle?
"Reading the card explains the card"
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-19)Can NebKher's gold copy Razzle's green to move another Razzle? Similarly, can NebKher copy Razzle's silver to despawn Razzles?
It uses "you". So no effect, since there are no "other yous" (Nebkhers) to spawn/despawn.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-20)When NebKher copies Razzle's green, can it move a Razzle?
Correct. Follow the text exactly.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-20)Does Razzle also discard 2 cards?
Each Razzle is a separate hero (while Razzle or any other hero is performing an action/applying their card text)
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-12-05)Can Min's grenade cause multiple discards if it's placed in the middle of a group of Razzles?
Active effect is part of an action
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-06)Two questions about Sabina's red card Quickdraw:
1. When Emmitt uses the effect of his purple to play two cards and, after revealing them, retrieves one that is an attack card while the other isn't an attack card, does Sabina still gain the attack bonus on Quickdraw?
2. If Gydion uses his red skill card to cast an attack spell, does that count as "played an attack card this turn" so that Sabina gains the attack bonus?
1. A card stops being “Played” when it’s returned to hand.
2. All Gydion's cards are skill cards. Spells themselves can be different action types, but spell cards aren't played, they are "cast".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-15)If "Turn Into Statues" is active, can a hero which is now in range, and thus terrain, be swapped using "Back to Back"? Could Sabina swap with a friendly minion when she is turned to stone?
A hero cannot be swapped with back-to-back as it can't target a hero. Sabina can swap with a minion. Swap is not a movement.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-19)Does Sabina's heal blue not work while the heavy has immunity, if the heavy is one of the 2 minions in radius?
Sabina's blue checks presence.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-14)Can Sabina swap a big friendly minion with another minion using Roger-Roger (blue card)?
As long as it's not immune - sure.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-05)Can multi-attack actions (e.g. Whisper's tier 3 blue, or Sabina) defeat multiple minions on a siege if they would be the last minions, including the other minion you are also killing?
It depends. If targeting is simultaneous “up to X”, then no. If sequential, then yes.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-10)Reading Silverarrow's gold card literally: if used to fast travel after the attack (standing outside the battle zone and able to fast travel normally), does the fast travel have to be to an adjacent zone, and not the zone she is currently in?
What makes you doubt it?
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-11)how many times can Silverarrow move with her Ultimate when playing level 3 alt red ?
once before the action, once before each repeat
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-03)With Silverarrow's alt red, Rain of Arrows, does "target a unit at max range" mean I can only resolve this if there is a unit exactly at range 3, or can I also target units that are closer?
Yes, max range means at range 3 only (or 4, if you have a range item)
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-08)Does Silverarrow's Grasping Roots stop Brogan's mad dash? It's technically an attack action not a movement action.
Not technically. It's not a movement action.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-09)When using Silverarrow’s Trailblazer ability, does the obstacle still count as a space for the total number of steps in your movement?
Please check "Ignoring obstacles" on page 18 of the rulebook. All it does is it lets you go through obstacles, without stopping on them.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-12)If Trailblazer is active, can Silverarrow fast travel through obstacles into the jungle? Do two non-adjacent zones become adjacent when you "ignore obstacles" between them?
Please check “ignoring obstacles” and “adjacent” in the rulebook (pages 17-19). The answers are there.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-02)Does Silverarrow’s gold allow her to fast travel into/out of the battle zone? Or does it follow the normal restrictions for fast travel?
General approach to reading all the card texts is read it literally and if something isn't mentioned, then it's not there.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-17)For Silverarrow’s silver, does the friendly hero have to start their movement action within radius to ignore obstacles? If a friendly hero starts their movement outside radius but then moves within radius, can that hero ignore obstacles?
Movement actions don't check active effects mid-move
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-23)Can Silverarrow play her silver (which lets her ignore obstacles when performing movement actions) on the first turn, and then on turn 2 fast travel through an obstacle?
Fast travel is not a movement action.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-01)When Silverarrow's gold targets "at maximum range", does the enemy not have to be in a straight line? Why are there two different range symbols?
Because they are used in different cases and there is a slight difference, even though there's overlap.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-01)Can Silverarrow's gold card target an adjacent unit? Does "maximum range" mean "the farthest enemy in range"?
If an ability is [Range]3, the maximum range is 3. Meaning you can target at 1, 2 and 3. _At maximum range_ however is exactly 3. Not 1 or 2.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-01)Silverarrow's gold card doesn't allow Fast Travel to a space in her current zone — it must end in an adjacent one (and meet Fast Travel requirements for both zones), correct?
Yes, that's what an "adjacent zone" means.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-02)My copy of Renowned shipped with a Silverarrow sheet instead of Ignatia. Does the back of the Ignatia sheet say what the magma tokens do?
Make sure you reach out to us by email to request a replacement
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-06)Is there a rule about not targeting yourself? can silverarrow target herself with alt green upgrade to get a card out of her own discard?
Page 10 of the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-19)Can Silverarrow go through the 3 obstacles near the enemy base into the jungle when fast traveling if silver is active?
Ignoring obstacles has no effect on zone adjacency
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-16)How does Snorri’s ultimate interact with his gold and other tier 3 cards (except green)? Most of them state: "If a rune is active..." If two runes are active simultaneously (via his ultimate), can I resolve the effects of both active runes, or must I choose only one to resolve (similar to green)?
Follow the card text verbatim. If it says one rune - that means one rune. If it doesn't say to choose one rune, then it's not limited to one rune.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-02-26)For the bird rune on Snorri's Ancestral Grace: can the ally swap any of the 3 colored cards they have with the same-tier, same-color card regardless of its location — a played card, resolved card, card in hand, or discard — with the card that was previously an item becoming their card moving forward?
Yes. It effectively lets them "change their mind" about an earlier level-up decision.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-09)If a buff allows me to ignore obstacles (such as Snorri's blue card Safe Passage), does it apply only to movement I initiate, and not to other heroes moving me or pushing me?
Yes, this is what I meant.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-28)Is there a general rule against discarding two cards from one enemy action? After obtaining his ultimate, can Snorri use his green card twice on the same hero to force them to discard two cards — making it possible for a single hero (who also has two attack cards left) to force another hero to discard four cards in one round?
I believe you played Snorri's TIII green card incorrectly.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-28)Can snorri gold horn hit a hero at range 2
Repeat - yes. The main target - no. Follow the card text.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-28)Do you consider Snorri's active runes when copying their cards as NebKher?
Nothing in the card text suggests that you don’t.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-01)Snorri’s Oath of Defense has a defense main action and the text “this turn: you are immune to enemy actions”. Can you play it as your primary action just to receive the immunity, without using it as a reaction defense?
Please check Defense[Defense]action section in the rulebook. And the [DefenseSkill] Defense/Skill action on the same page.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-11)For Snorri's green card, can I block whenever the horn rune is available, or does it have to be the turn where the horn rune is down to use the free card when attacked?
You can only block whichever rune is currently active. Refer to the silver card for what an active rune means.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-16)Swift's Tier II Alt Green says "*Move an enemy minion in radius up to 3 spaces to a space in radius.
Next turn: The first time an enemy minion in radius is defeated, gain 1 coin.*" Swift can choose to move an enemy minion 0 spaces, but does she have to target an enemy minion in the first place to then move it 0 spaces? If there are no enemy minions in radius, is a mandatory step failed so the Active Effect is not activated?
Swift's Tier III Alt Green says "*Move up to two enemy minions in radius, up to 3 spaces each, to spaces in radius.
Next turn: The first two times an enemy minion in radius is defeated, gain 1 coin.*" In this case Swift can choose to move 0 minions, and if there are no enemy minions in radius then a mandatory step is not failed. Are these cards intended to work differently?
Follow the text as written. Higher tier card is stronger.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-15)swift's tier 3 alt-green (hunting season) says "Move up to two enemy minions in radius up to 3 spaces to spaces in radius". Are you allotted three spaces that can be split across the 2 minions you target, or could you move both minions 3 spaces each?
No. Each one is up to 3.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-21)If Swift attacks Raz with shotgun does raz have to discard 2 cards
When an action is performed each Razzle is a separate hero. So, sure.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-05)Swift's ultimate states that you cannot target the same hero twice in the same turn when resolving, for example, her gold mimicking red twice. But can you target a minion with shotgun (forcing a discard), then target the same hero that you forced to discard? Or is the forced discard after killing minion considered "targeting" and thus you cannot target that hero again?
The ultimate assumes the "old" gold wording. The intention is you can shoot twice. RAW you cannot. I suggest to play as intended, as @user pointed out, but it might be a good idea to warn other players about it if you get to the ultimate.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-26)Was Swift's silver card changed in the update?
Doesn't swap anymore? Or is it printing mistake?
This is not a rules question. Most cards were changed in the 2nd printing.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-16)If swift repeats his red card with his gold card can he target gydion while invulnerability is on?
Why would it become both? You have Action 1. Then Action 2.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-01)for Chilling Howl combined with Swift Justice - does their "max movement" become the limited 2 or if they defend with a boot of 3, they just don't move since they can't hit the max?
Max movement is their [Movement] value. Whisper modifies that by reducing it by 1.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-02)For Takahide's Handicap card, Shameful Display, does it block the attack, and then you are defeated, preventing the active kill rewards, or does it have no actual effect?
It has no text (the "you are defeated" is a clarification text in _italics_). If you defend with it, you are defeated.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-06)Does Takahide choose which gold card to start with?
Look at the text of each of those cards.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-04)For takahide, are the gold cards he switches to visible to other players when he switches?
It depends. If it was facedown, then no.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-04)With Takahide's alt red (the one that blocks spaces), can Pyro end a move adjacent to Takahide? Also, can Arien's gold move Takahide after Takahide's red?
Follow the text verbatim. Is it something done by an enemy hero? Those spaces are obstacles. See "Obstacles" in keywords section.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-14)Does Tali's silver allow me to discard a color card even if it has been resolved already? Page 10 says "unless specified".
It's right there in the text. Read the full text. 3rd sentence.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-27)If Tali places her totem next to a friendly minion, can it still be removed? Does it only prevent "defeat"?
Apply the text exactly as written. Removed and defeated are two separate keywords.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-18)Two questions about Tali's ability Commune with Spirit:
1) During the strategy phase, is it allowed to call out to your teammates and enemies that your teammate has to say green next turn?
2) In a 5v5 game, is it allowed to say out loud during the strategy phase: "Next turn, if I play Commune with Spirit, if I choose Player A, that player has to say green; if I choose Player B, they have to say red", etc.?
For the first question I believe so, because it's open information for both teams. For the second question I believe you would not be allowed to do that, because the Tali player gets full control over what card she wants to play with her silver during her turn after all cards have been revealed.
Less than the 2), but still…
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-11-22)Is leveling up done in secret, or should the table know which card has been added and removed from each deck? For example, can a Tigerclaw player know her opponents' attack types and whether they changed them this level up, or is it all hidden in the moment?
Follow the rulebook. It specifies the exact order for leveling up, and what constitutes hidden information. You need pages 4, 15 and 16.
TLDR: you cannot see what others picked when you are picking upgrades.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-15)With Backstab with a Ballista, can people still block the attack using "secondary" block cards, just not primary?
You are confusing defense and block. Defense card is a card type. Block is a keyword. All cards that use block keyword are defense cards, but not all defense cards are block cards. (Doesn't matter for "Backstab with a Ballista", but probably better to clarify).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-10)How long does Tigerclaw's poison token stay? Does it go back to the reserve at the end of the round?
Page 8, third paragraph.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-02)If you are unable to complete the main action of a card fully, can you not use it for that main action? With Tigerclaw's Blink Strike, a player moved through an immune enemy heavy but then couldn't attack — if the attack can't be made, can the move not be made either?
No. Please see "Performing actions - mandatory and optional steps" on Page 10.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-10)With the new Tigerclaw Backstab with a Ballista, if a hero doesn't have a defense/skill card, can they not defend against the attack at all?
Absolute majority of defense actions are secondary. But, for example, Emmitt won't be able to defend with silver, or Bain with green.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-29)Do tokens like tigerclaw's poison or Bain's marker get removed at the end of the turn?
Check Page 8, paragraph 3 of the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-12)If someone is attacked and has 1 card left in their hand and can’t play that card because it has no defense listed on it, but they’re surrounded by friendly minions that reduce the damage to 0, do they die?
Which version of the game you are playing? I don’t recall cards without defence action.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-15)When arien uses Gush of water in GOA1, if Tigerclaw uses dodge to protect himself, does Tigerclaw move 1 space back ?
Can you attach the images of the cards involved please?
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-05)Regarding Trinkets' Silver "Salvage Parts" and his turret:
1) Can the turret be destroyed or removed from the board?
2) For the first option ("Place the turret adjacent to you"), must the turret be removed before Trinkets can place it on the board again?
1) No, it cannot be destroyed.
2) No, the turret doesn't have to be removed to be placed.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-14)If Nebkher mimics Trinkets' Self Destruct, does the turret get destroyed? Also, Salvage Parts says "Remove the turret; move up to 3 spaces." Does the turret need to be on the board, or can I still move 3 spaces without it?
Read the entirety of Page 10 of the rulebook. It will resolve these questions.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-15)Is it only necessary to have 1 [Trinkets] token adjacent to the turret? Can I place the others within the radius at will, rather than needing them to be adjacent to other [Trinkets] tokens of the same type?
That’s what “at least one” means, yes.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-06)I mixed up Trinkets' Rapid Deployment cards while adding the update pack. How do I identify the updated card?
Look at the bottom right corner of the illustration. The new cards have a watermark there.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-08)Is Trinkets turret a targetable unit? Can it be attacked?
Your gold and silver card tells you what the turret is
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-16)Does Trinkets' turret get removed when he dies?
If something isn’t mentioned in the rules and/or card text, it’s not a thing.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-26)Do trinkets barrier tokens affect the total? It has a +1 shield icon, but it's not "their card and items"
Apply the exact same logic to all cards affecting defense.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-09)Since trinkets turret is not a token, what happens when it's sitting on a minion spawn point and the minion has to spawn?
Page 8 of the rulebook. Blue textbox.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-16)For Trinkets' Disruptor (blue T3), with "discard or is defeated": if someone decides to use their primary action, are they allowed to backtrack and use movement instead when they realize Trinkets' T3 blue is in play? Likewise for his T2, where the primary action forces a discard: can someone take back their primary action after announcing it and use movement instead to avoid the discard?
Raw - no. But read the room. Treat it as any other of many types of misplays which can lead to player’s defeat. Let them take it back or not, depending on the play group and how “serious” you want to take the game.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-26)If someone is between Trinkets and the turret, does that still count as a straight line, given you "draw" the lines in opposite directions?
Yes. The card refers to two straight lines.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-18)If Ursafar plays a gold card for its movement, does it count as active for his grey? Does a card need to be used for its primary action to be considered active?
Card text is not applied when performing secondary actions.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-04-26)If there are two minions left and Ursafar uses Feeding Frenzy while Enraged, can he remove both the melee minion and the heavy minion after attacking a hero, or does the heavy still have immunity that turn?
Effects with "up to" happen at the same time. So Heavy is still immune.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-03)Can Ursafar use his 'Angry Roar' card to fast travel if Prowling Brute was already played earlier?
Ursafar's silver says perform a "primary action". Fast travel is secondary action, so FT would not be valid. It would, if Ursafar's text wouldn't specify "primary".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-12-20)For Ursafar, is it only the card that made him Enraged that counts as active for his silver?
Card, or cards.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-11)Looking at Ursafar's cards, he is basically always Enraged on turns 2-4 if a non-green card is played as the turn 1 card. Is it intended that his card conditions say "if Enraged" when he is practically always Enraged except turn 1?
Please specify what is unclear and I will clarify it for you. You can also search this channel for this question, as it was asked and responded to multiple times.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-16)When using a card to perform a primary action (e.g. Ursafar's Silver or Green), can you copy a movement action to Fast Travel, or replace an attack with Clear? Or does needing to perform the primary action mean you cannot replace it with a secondary action (Fast Travel being defined as secondary)?
Page 10. Repeat section.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-15)For Ursafar's Angry Roar, can the active effect be a card that was played but whose primary action wasn't performed?
If the primary action wasn't performed, that card cannot be "active". See "Resolve your card" on page 7.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-28)If Ursafar uses his red or gold to clear tokens, they don't become active cards for later user with silver, right? Because clear is replacing the attack action?
Clear is a separate secondary action which _replaces_ the attack.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-20)If Ursafar uses his blue card and becomes enraged, and then he uses his silver card to repeat blue, can he fast travel with his silver card?
No. Silver lets you perform a primary action. Fast travel is secondary.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-20)Does Ursafar's blue immediately engage him, or is that after the card has been resolved?
Page 10 answers this question and many other commonly asked questions. Your specific question is answered in the first sentence.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-25)If an attack card was discarded due to performing a defense action, and a card is then used to perform that attack card's primary action, does the attack card become "active"? (Whether the attack card is active determines whether Ursafar can use his Silver to perform its primary action.)
Yes.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-07)If wasp uses static barrier (gray) next to an enemy hero spawn point, can a enemy hero spawn on it or is it considered an obstacle?
No. This is similar to “before the attack”. (I can see the naming conflict, we will clean this up in the future )
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-04-01)Regarding Wasp's Magnetic Dagger and Dodger's Necromancy: does Magnetic Dagger stop a placement, or does it only affect units that already exist when it is resolved?
Wasp's gold affects units in radius.
If a unit is not on the board, how can it be "in radius"?
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-14)1. Can Wasp's kinetic repulse / kinetic blast force multiple heroes to discard? The card says `if a pushed hero is stopped by an obstacle, that hero discards a card, if able.`, but I'm not sure if `a pushed hero` means *one* pushed hero or *any such* pushed heroes.
2. If it can force multiple discards, what order should the players discard the cards in? It could matter, and no talking would be allowed at this time.
1. She can cause a single discard on every hero she pushed.
2. Wasp’s choice
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-09-30)Wasp's Magnetic Dagger says "Enemy units in radius cannot be swapped or placed by themselves or by enemy heroes." Brogan's Bulwark says "You and friendly units in radius cannot be moved, pushed, swapped or placed by enemy heroes." Is "cannot" the same as being "immune" to those actions, or is "cannot" a separate concept from "immune"?
Mechanically these things are not the same. Immunity prevents an entire action, the effects above are essentially breakpoints at specific steps.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-10-07)Can Wasp push 2 different instances of Razzle with Kinetic Repulse?
Skill is an action. Since Wasp is _performing an action_, Razzle does _not_ count as the same hero and so each one can be targeted.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-12-05)If you push a unit into terrain or another unit, does it take damage? Or is there a specific hero edge case where this happens?
In general- no. Wasp can cause discard that way though.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-03)Can a hero inside Wasp's barrier be attacked in melee by a hero from outside the barrier? Trinkets' Turret is an obstacle and cannot be attacked, and Wasp's barrier makes a hero inside it an obstacle for heroes outside — does that mean the hero inside is not a unit?
1. Yes, why not.
2. It's not important if it's an obstacle or not. What is important is that nothing says that it's a unit.
3. Wasp's barrier does nothing to heroes, only to spaces.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-16)Wasp's silver says spaces count as obstacles, and Bear cannot swap with an obstacle. Does Wasp's silver prevent swapping?
Wasp’s silver doesn’t affect swapping.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-03)Can Wasp and Tiger Claw block a ranged attack if it is used to target only adjacent targets — e.g. Dodger's Finger of Death?
“Ranged subtype“ paragraph has the direct answer to your question.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-06)For Whisper's G3 card Sealed Fate, do I need to perform the first part of the text (swap with a unit) in order to perform the second part (move up to 3 spaces)?
Check page 10 of the rulebook "mandatory steps".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-23)Whisper's gold says "If able, that hero performs a movement action on the card they defended with, moving full distance in a straight line." Does the defender control the straight line? Can they choose to run into an obstacle to move shorter than the full distance? Does the straight line have to be away from Whisper?
No. This is why the card text specifies "the full distance".
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-10)Does Whisper's gold card automatically make me move 3, or can I move 1 into a wall to stop my movement?
Lack of “up to”. Same reason brogan can’t choose to “move into the adjacent target” with charge red.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-03-15)Whisper attacks with his gold card and Snorri defends with his level 1 green card, which has the active effect "This turn: You are immune to enemy actions." In what order are these cards resolved? The attack is blocked by the green card, which is then in the discard pile, tapped and active. Is the rest of Whisper's gold (Snorri having to move 2 spaces in a straight line) blocked because the immunity from the green card is already active?
“After the attack” part of gold won’t trigger.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-05-25)Can Whisper's Handicap gold target minions?
Simply follow the card text exactly as it’s written. If it doesn’t say that you can “target a unit” or “target a minion”, it means it cannot target minions.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-07-19)if whisper uses silver to become immune to enemy actions, can mrak use silver to stone grip whisper?
stone grip does not say target, but whisper is being selected to be gripped
The answer is on Page 10 of the rulebook. "Selecting targets" section.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-05)When Ursafar blocks Whisper's gold, does he get to perform the rest of the effects on his card, given that he is not Enraged because the active effect would be in the discard?
Correct. Each Razzle is targeted separately, so only the original Razzle is restricted
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-08-24)If a hero is immune to enemy actions (e.g. via Whisper's Silver), can an enemy Rowenna still use her Silver to teleport close to Whisper, since Rowenna's Silver targets a space? She then couldn't ask Whisper "Would you like to move away 1? If you do, I get two coins" — how does that interaction play out? Does the card fizzle at that part?
In current printed rules, Rowenna cannot do placement in that scenario as that placement also targets the unit in that same step (it requires both space in range and unit in range).
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-22)For whisper gold card, the hero defending performs movement action. If the card has movement as primary action, does defender read and apply text?
Yes. Whisper's gold doesn't specify secondary movement, so yes, primary movement can be performed, which includes text.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-28)For modal cards like Wuk's Treetop Ride, can you do one option (spawn a tree) and then use the other option targeting something that was spawned in from the first option (swap spaces with the tree you created)?
This is answered on Page 10 of the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-06-29)How is it possible to play with 10 players in GoA 1? Without Wuk and Hanu, there are only 9 characters available. Does that mean 11-player games are also possible?
Simply use the rules from Guards of Atlantis II and proxy any counters you don’t have. If you are in North America, you can also consider getting the update pack from our website. It contains cards and dashboards for all 11 original characters and will work for the original game as well. It also includes the rulebook.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-22)Wuk's Ultimate says
*"Each time after you resolve a card, you may place a Tree token in radius."*
If a card's text tells me to "repeat once" than is the card resolved before or after a repeated action is performed?
The card is resolved when you are done performing action(c) on the card.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-01-23)If Xargatha resolves Stone Gaze, can Arien use Slippery Ground's movement action as a primary action on the next turn, with only the card text applied and no movement?
Follow the card text exactly as written. Stone gaze says cannot perform movement actions. Slippery ground is a movement action.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2026-03-02)If Xargatha is in radius of Arien's Silver during the turn it was played, can she use her skill? And if she is not in radius when it's her turn to play, is she free to use it?
Please refer to page 7. Arien's Silver is only affecting actions as they are being performed.
— Designer ruling (Arty on Discord, 2025-02-16)With Xargatha's Rapid Thrusts: if Xargatha is adjacent to a minion and at range 2 from a hero, can she hit both? The repeat rules say you repeat the entire action with the same range, restrictions etc., but also that you treat each instance as a separate action. Does this mean: 1. Xargatha targets the minion with a range-2 Rapid Thrusts (because she is adjacent to the minion), then repeats that action and can target the hero at range 2? Or 2. She targets the minion, then repeats that action and cannot target the hero because she is no longer adjacent to an enemy?
If minion is gone, hero is not in range any more.

Specifically, I'm thinking of a niche scenario where Silver Arrow/Xargatha have their anti-movement Blue active, and for whatever reason, are able to cover all available hero spawn points. Do you spawn as part of your action, and can therefore move unrestricted? Or do you spawn, become targeted by those effects, and now have to play under those conditions?
Any change in unit’s position recalculates all active effects.

Immunity has nothing to do with minion modifiers. Only with performing actions.
